We conduct trauma-informed investigations to address complaints of sexual misconduct and discrimination on both campuses. Guided by UBC's SC17: Sexual Misconduct Policy and SC7: Discrimination Policy, we follow processes that have been developed collaboratively between UBC administration and the UBC community.
Not all complaints will lead to an investigation. Some are resolved using a process called Alternative Resolution, which is another service option provided by our office.
The Investigations Office is impartial and has no role in disciplinary decision making. We provide the Investigative Findings to relevant disciplinary decision makers, who will then decide upon disciplinary measures.
We do not provide support to Complainants (those making a report) or Respondents (those who have a report made towards them).
We also provide education, outreach and consultation services to increase awareness of the IO and UBC's unique approach to reports of sexual misconduct and discrimination.
